id magazine folds

Though the end of the year is almost upon us, it looks like the GFC is still claiming casualties. Iconic American design publication I.D. Magazine has announced they are shutting up shop after 55 years, with the upcoming January/February edition to be its last. Publisher Gary Lynch has cited the decline in print advertising, as well as a fragmentation of core readership as the major factors behind the decision.

I.D.'s Annual Design Review will continue in an online format, but it's a sad day for lovers of design and print.
