tim burton and his wonderland coming to melbourne

Tim Burton is coming to Melbourne this June. The Australian Centre for the Moving Image will be hosting a retrospective of Tim Burton’s career thus far and the director will be appearing at the opening event. New York readers may have already had their Burton fix as the exhibition is currently on show at MoMa.

As a ground-breaking director, Tim Burton has become as famous as the endless celebrities that star in his films. The last couple of years have seen him breathe new life into the classic stories of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland.

Tim Burton features artworks that will give audiences a look into the creative inspiration behind Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice and Sweeney Todd. Fans will be able to see the Batman mask and award winning costumes from Alice in Wonderland as well as drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures.

Running from 24 June to 10 October, the exhibition will also include 14 weeks of Tim Burton films showing at the ACMI Cinemas.
