the flight of the tin sparrow

Tin Sparrow has been winning hearts all around Sydney over the last couple of months. Recently selected as FBi Radio's unsigned artist of the week, they describe their music as “happy folk for happy folks”. The four-piece sits happily between the folk and pop genres with their catchy lyrics and soft melodies.

Frontman Matt Amery first got our attention playing acoustic gigs at Café Lounge in Sydney's Surry Hills in 2009. Meeting Dean Mcleod and Sonja Van Hummel at Macquarie University, they picked Mark Piccles up along the way and Tin Sparrow was born.

Listing their influences as Edward Sharpe, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, the band is putting in the hours at the studio for their EP which will be released in 2011.

If you like what you hear, Tin Sparrow will be playing Oxford Arts Factory on the 7th October and The Spectrum on the 27th October. They will also be joining the likes of Angus and Julia Stone, Built to Spill, Shout Out Louds, Born Ruffians and Lightspeed Champion over New Years at Peats Ridge Festival.
