Five decades ago, a Dr Klaus Maertens was busy tinkering away in his garage. Among many inventions, there lay a shoe sole that would one day become an icon.
Doc Martens are one of those few products that know no boundaries. Popular with teenage outcasts, skinheads, divas, industrial workers, men and women, anybody can rock a pair of Docs.
With Doc Martens celebrating their 50th anniversary this month, 10 artists have remixed classic songs that encapsulate the brand; 10 directors have also been enlisted to make the music videos. With a stellar line-up that includes N.A.S.A, The Noisettes, The Duke Spirit, DaM-FunK, The Raveonettes, The Cinematic Orchestra, Verbal + Yoon and Buraka Som Sistema, the tracks will be released throughout the year.
